Remote Medical Coder – Hospital Coding Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will apply US or UK coding standards to complex patient records, ensuring accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Review inpatient and outpatient medical records and assign appropriate ICD‑10, CPT, HCPCS, OPCS‑4, or SNOMED CT codes.
• Ensure coding complies with federal, state, NHS, and payer guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps and query clinicians for clarification.
• Correct coding errors, resolve claim denials, and support revenue cycle management.
• Maintain data integrity through audits and quality checks.
• Stay current with coding guideline updates and compliance regulations.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active AAPC or AHIMA certification (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK certification.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
• Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, or SystmOne.
• Excellent attention to detail and pattern‑recognition ability.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+), high‑speed internet, and a verified backup power supply.
• Quiet, secure, HIPAA/GDPR‑compliant workspace.
