Maintenance Lead – Energy Systems

About the role

The Maintenance Lead (Energy) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimisation of high, medium and low‑voltage electrical systems in an industrial mining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair high‑voltage equipment such as switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, power lines and related assets.
• Conduct preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on HV power distribution networks, substations and transmission lines.
• Maintain earthing, lightning protection and insulation systems for HV networks.
• Install, test and maintain low‑voltage systems including distribution panels, switchboards, motor control centres (MCCs), control circuits and power outlets.
• Troubleshoot motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
• Maintain lighting systems, UPS units and small power circuits.
• Implement asset‑management and engineering best‑practice standards to improve equipment effectiveness (OEE) and minimise operating costs.
• Develop standards, SOPs, procedures and guidelines for energy generation and distribution.
• Diagnose and repair short circuits, overloads, grounding faults and insulation failures using multimeters, megohmmeters and power analyzers.
• Respond promptly to electrical failures to restore operations quickly.
• Lead root‑cause analysis (RCA) for critical equipment breakdowns and define corrective, preventive and predictive actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience with high, medium and low‑voltage electrical systems in an industrial or mining setting.
