Computational Ocean Scientist – Remote Consulting

About the role

We are expanding our expert consultant team with part‑time, fully remote Computational Ocean Scientists to support frontier AI research. The role involves stress‑testing leading AI models on research‑level ocean science problems, creating and verifying complex questions and explanations, and assessing AI‑generated reasoning against the standards of trained ocean scientists.

Key responsibilities

• Stress‑test and evaluate cutting‑edge AI models on oceanographic research problems.
• Create, verify, and refine complex scientific questions and explanations within your area of expertise.
• Assess whether AI‑generated reasoning meets professional ocean science standards.

Required profile

• PhD in Oceanography, Ocean Science, Marine Science, or a closely related field.
• Active engagement in computational research, such as faculty, postdoctoral, or research scientist positions.
• Experience working at research institutions (e.g., Woods Hole, Scripps), government agencies (e.g., NOAA, NASA), or industry applying ocean modeling.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with computational modeling.
• Experience in simulation of ocean processes.
• Large‑scale data analysis capabilities.
