Medical Billing Specialist - Virtual Assistant

About the role

This full‑time remote position supports an outpatient pediatric therapy practice with billing, insurance, claims, collections, and prior‑authorization tasks. The Virtual Assistant will handle end‑to‑end billing functions, maintain accurate records, and communicate with insurers and internal staff to ensure timely processing.

Key responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance eligibility, submit prior authorizations to Medicaid, MCOs, Tricare and commercial payers, and track authorization timelines.
• Prepare and submit insurance claims, research denied or partial payments, review EOBs, and apply payments accurately to patient accounts.
• Follow established billing workflows, coordinate with clinical and office staff, document all communications, and assist with additional billing or administrative tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
• Strong communicator across email, chat, phone, and Zoom, with a genuine interest in serving the pediatric population.
