Project Director – Liberia (AFGHS-FHI 360)

About the role

The Project Director provides overall leadership, management and strategic direction for the AFGHS‑FHI 360 portfolio in Liberia, overseeing HIV, global health security, maternal‑child health and polio initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Direct overall project vision, design, planning and implementation to meet contractual timelines and budgets.
• Develop and manage strategic relationships with the Ministry of Health, government officials, implementing partners and US donor representatives.
• Lead the country project team, ensuring clear priorities, performance management and professional development.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation and risk‑mitigation processes, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
• Coordinate with FHI 360 headquarters on annual work plans, milestones and budgets, and serve as the primary liaison with DOS Liberia staff.

Required profile

• Comprehensive knowledge of project management theories, concepts and practices.
• Excellent leadership, oral and written communication, and consultative negotiation skills.
• Strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving abilities to plan, organize and manage resources.
• Ability to build positive relationships with local communities, government officials and donors.
