Senior Project Associate – Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (G6)

About the role

The Senior Project Associate – Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) will assist the supervisor in implementing MHPSS activities for IOM Liberia. The incumbent will promote psychosocial well‑being through structured activities, awareness campaigns, recreational events, information‑sharing sessions and other community initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate delivery of multilayered psychosocial support services for vulnerable migrants, from early identification to referral and follow‑up.
• Serve as focal point for psychosocial interventions, overseeing case identification, referrals and compliance with case‑management procedures.
• Lead administrative coordination of project implementation, liaising with internal units and external partners.
• Develop operational plans based on rapid MHPSS assessments to expand access to integrated services.
• Organise psycho‑educational activities on stress management, coping strategies and social cohesion.
• Contribute to training material development and deliver training on Psychological First Aid to staff and partners.
• Monitor confidentiality, data protection and safeguarding standards across MHPSS activities.
• Facilitate consultations and focus group discussions with vulnerable migrants and IDPs to inform programme design.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Clinical Psychology, Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or related field with at least four years relevant experience, or High School diploma with six years experience.
• Professional accreditation from a recognized medical, psychological or counselling association.
• Experience assessing MHPSS needs in complex emergency or post‑conflict contexts and providing multilayered MHPSS services in AVR programmes.
• Experience developing case plans, triaging specialized cases and conducting regular follow‑ups.
• Prior work with international humanitarian organisations in multicultural settings.
