Chief Engineer (Ro-Pax Vessel)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead the engineering department aboard a Ro-Pax vessel operating in the Balearic Sea. The role involves overseeing the ship’s propulsion and auxiliary systems, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and maintaining high standards of passenger and cargo safety.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and supervise all engineering operations, including the main engine, generators, and auxiliary machinery.
• Ensure the vessel complies with marine pollution regulations and passenger vessel certificates.
• Oversee safety training for crew members providing direct service to passengers and coordinate crowd management procedures.
• Maintain hull integrity, cargo safety, and overall vessel performance during the 2-month on/off rotation.
• Collaborate with the captain and senior officers on crisis management and human behavior protocols.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years experience in a senior engineering rank on a passenger vessel.
• Valid Marine Pollution Certificate and Passenger Vessel Certificates.
• Experience with safety training, passenger and cargo safety, and crowd management.
• EU passport holder.

Required skills

• Knowledge of B&W marine engines and related power systems.
