National Environmental Specialist – REOI (Full-time)

About the role

The National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) is seeking a qualified National Environmental Specialist to provide environmental management oversight for the Liberia Sustainable Management of Fisheries Project (LSMFP). The specialist will work closely with the project’s Social Specialist and will support NaFAA in meeting environmental requirements, compliance, and capacity‑building objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the implementation of the project’s environmental and social instruments and ensure they comply with the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) and the Environmental and Social Commitment Plan (ESCP).
• Monitor adherence to Liberia’s Environmental Protection and Management Laws (EPML, 2002) and other national regulations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Environmental Impact Assessment, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in environmental management, regulatory compliance, and capacity‑building within the fisheries or natural resources sector.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF).
• Familiarity with Liberia’s Environmental Protection and Management Laws (EPML, 2002).
