Safeguarding & Safe and Dignified Programming Advisor I

About the role

The Safeguarding & Safe and Dignified Programming (SSDP) Advisor will support the Country Program in implementing CRS’s Safeguarding Policy and integrating protection mainstreaming across both relief and development activities. Working closely with the Global Safeguarding Team and HRD Safe & Dignified Programming Team, the advisor will provide technical guidance, tools, and capacity‑building to ensure high‑quality safeguarding standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of CRS’s Safeguarding Policy and SDP Strategy at the country level, leveraging regional and global technical advisors as needed.
• Identify internal safeguarding priorities, develop action plans, conduct legal analyses and risk assessments.
• Provide regular updates on safeguarding and SDP efforts, share lessons learned, and keep protection mainstreaming on leadership agendas.
• Coordinate, train, and mentor in‑country safeguarding focal points and facilitate knowledge exchange.
• Maintain and annually review essential service mapping and referral pathways.
• Receive and log safeguarding allegations through EthicsPoint, triage concerns, and ensure timely survivor support and referrals.
• Support program managers with awareness‑raising tools on rights, CRS Code of Conduct, and reporting expectations.
• Facilitate risk assessments and mitigation planning for new project designs.

Required profile

• Experience in safeguarding, protection, or related humanitarian fields.
• Demonstrated ability to lead capacity‑building initiatives and mentor staff.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding policies, risk assessment, and protection mainstreaming.
• Ability to work collaboratively with global and regional technical advisors.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EthicsPoint reporting system.
