Loco Maintenance Lead

About the role

ArcelorMittal Liberia is seeking a Loco Maintenance Lead to oversee the maintenance of its diesel-electric locomotive fleet supporting iron-ore transport. The role combines hands-on technical work with team leadership to ensure safe, reliable and efficient locomotive operations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day locomotive maintenance and repair activities, ensuring compliance with maintenance plans and standards.
• Coordinate workshop scheduling, workforce allocation and liaise with operations to minimise equipment downtime.
• Provide technical support for complex locomotive issues, including diagnostics, repairs and testing according to OEM and engineering practices.
• Assist in maintenance planning, schedule development and execution.
• Conduct quality and safety inspections, authorise return-to-service decisions.
• Lead, coach and develop technicians and artisans, fostering skills growth.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering (preferred).
• 8–12 years of experience in rolling stock or heavy-equipment maintenance.
• 3–5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Experience working in expatriate or remote environments (advantage).
