Behavior Modification Interventionist

About the role

The Behavior Modification Interventionist works closely with teachers, administrators, and families to design and implement positive behavioral interventions for students with disabilities. The role focuses on creating safe, effective learning environments by assessing needs and developing tailored behavior plans.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to assess student behavior needs and develop intervention strategies.
• Design and implement functional behavior assessments, behavior plans, and social‑skills programming.
• Provide written and verbal communication to staff, parents, and students regarding intervention implementation and documentation.
• Participate in IEP meetings to integrate behavioral interventions into individualized education plans.
• Conduct follow‑up classroom visits to monitor effectiveness, observe students, and adjust interventions as needed.
• Support school administration with discipline issues related to special‑education students.
• Deliver professional development and training on behavior management best practices.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years experience in behavior management and designing positive behavioral interventions, preferably in an educational setting.
• Certified and licensed according to state law and Mississippi Department of Education regulations.
• Successful completion of criminal background check and child abuse registry check.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle emotionally charged situations.
• Ability to train others in effective behavior management techniques.
• Satisfactory employment record.
