Finance Associate (G-5)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Liberia seeks a Finance Associate (G-5) to support its financial operations in Monrovia. Reporting to the Finance Officer and under the overall supervision of the Resource Management Officer, the incumbent will ensure accurate financial management in line with IOM policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing financial resources, monitoring assets, reserves, funds, and supplies according to IOM regulations.
• Support the preparation of annual budget submissions, revisions, and cost estimations for staff, rentals, utilities, equipment, and other expenses.
• Extract and input data into financial and accounting systems, and provide guidance on accounting, budgeting, and finance matters.
• Execute validity checks on monthly payroll results and assist in payroll preparation.
• Review all payment requests, verify authorizations, and ensure supporting documentation is complete.
• Create and maintain vendor accounts, verify vendor claims for accuracy and policy compliance.
• Prepare budget, accounting, financial, statistical, and other required reports.
• Provide assistance to staff for travel, expense claims, and document retrieval.
• Maintain proper posting of payments and accounting documents, and manage office petty cash.
• Perform other relevant duties as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field with at least three years of relevant experience; alternatively, a high school diploma with five years of relevant experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to organize paperwork methodically.
• Discreet handling of confidential information.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience with SAP is a distinct advantage.
