Transboundary Project Manager – International

About the role

The RSPB is seeking an experienced Transboundary Project Manager to lead day‑to‑day delivery of the EU‑funded NaturAfrica BiCoGoL Action across the Gola‑Foya landscape in Sierra Leone and Liberia. This senior, field‑based role coordinates a complex, multi‑partner programme and delivers results through influence and collaboration rather than direct line management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead integrated programme planning and delivery across Sierra Leone and Liberia.
• Coordinate implementing partners and ensure clear accountability for results.
• Monitor progress, budgets, risks and compliance, taking timely corrective action.
• Lead adaptive management, learning, sustainability and close‑out planning.
• Maintain effective relationships with the EU, governments, communities and other stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities for private‑sector engagement, sustainable value chains and green enterprises.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing complex, multi‑partner programmes, preferably across more than one country.
• Experience delivering EU‑funded or similar international donor projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence stakeholders without direct line‑management authority.
• Experience working with governments, NGOs and rural communities in West Africa or comparable contexts.
• Strong financial, risk and reporting management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• Willingness to reside in Liberia and travel regularly between Liberia and Sierra Leone.

• Salary £45,644 – £48,732 per annum.
