Child Health Lead – Pediatrician

About the role

The Child Health Lead will ensure high‑quality pediatric services across all PIH/MOH supported facilities in Maryland County, Liberia. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, this senior position combines clinical expertise, strategic planning, and capacity‑building for Ministry of Health (MoH) staff.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning and manage work plans for the Child and Newborn Health department.
• Conduct daily clinical rounds at JJ Dossen Hospital and weekly visits to Pleebo and Karloken Health Centers.
• Mentor MoH specialist pediatricians, family‑medicine residents, medical officers, interns, medical students, physician assistants, and nurses.
• Design and deliver pediatric medical‑education seminars and Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (EmONC) sessions.
• Provide technical assistance for grant writing, grant management, and procurement of essential pediatric drugs.
• Collaborate with the Maternal Health department to update curricula and with the M&E team to monitor child‑health indicators.
• Participate in MoH technical working groups, develop and update pediatric ward protocols, and support CME program development at JJ Dossen Hospital and Pleebo Health Center.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board‑certified pediatrician qualification.
• Extensive experience in child and newborn health program leadership.
• Proven track record of mentorship, medical education, and collaboration with government health ministries.
• Strong analytical skills for monitoring health indicators and managing grants.
