Child Health Lead (Pediatrician)

About the role

The Child Health Lead will ensure high‑quality pediatric services across all PIH/MOH supported facilities in Maryland County, Liberia. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, the role combines clinical oversight, strategic planning, and capacity‑building for Ministry of Health staff.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning and implementation for the Child and Newborn Health department.
• Oversee work plans, conduct morning clinical rounds at JJ Dossen Hospital, and perform weekly site visits to Pleebo and Karloken Health Centers.
• Mentor MOH specialist pediatricians, family‑medicine residents, medical officers, interns, medical students, physician assistants, and nurses.
• Design and deliver pediatric medical‑education seminars and EmONC training sessions.
• Provide technical assistance for grant writing, grant management, and procurement forecasting of essential pediatric drugs.
• Collaborate with maternal health, M&E, research, and nursing departments to develop curricula and monitor key child‑health indicators.
• Participate in national protocol development and update pediatric ward protocols at JJ Dossen Hospital.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board‑certified pediatrician qualification.
• Significant experience in child and newborn health service delivery, preferably in low‑resource settings.
• Proven leadership and mentorship experience with clinical teams and trainees.
• Strong collaboration skills with government health ministries and NGOs.
• Experience in grant writing, program management, and health‑system strengthening.
