MERL & Digital Health Intern – Monitoring & Evaluation

About the role

This internship offers hands‑on experience at the intersection of monitoring, evaluation, research, learning (MERL) and digital health. Based in Liberia, you will support data‑driven decision‑making while helping configure and maintain digital health tools used in field programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing, testing and refining data collection tools such as surveys and interview guides.
• Collect, clean and enter project data into M&E databases and information systems.
• Support literature reviews, evidence synthesis and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.
• Track performance against logframe indicators and contribute to weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.
• Conduct field‑level monitoring, data verification and quality audits.
• Configure Android and iOS devices, install and troubleshoot health data collection apps (KoboToolbox, ODK Collect, DHIS2 Capture).
• Provide first‑line IT support, device enrollment, remote wipe and asset tracking.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date inventory of digital devices and support platform testing before deployment.

Required profile

• Interest in health, development and data‑driven decision‑making.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a field team.
• Strong attention to detail for data quality and device management.

Required skills

• Experience with data analysis tools such as SPSS, Excel or STATA.
• Familiarity with DHIS2, KoboToolbox or ODK Collect for digital data collection.
• Basic knowledge of Android and iOS device configuration.
• Understanding of mobile device management (MDM) processes.
