Resettlement Manager (Mining)

About the role

MANSA RESOURCES is developing a major gold mining project in Liberia and needs an experienced Resettlement Manager to lead land acquisition, compensation, relocation and livelihood restoration activities. Reporting to the Environmental & Social Manager, you will ensure the Resettlement Action Plan is delivered safely, ethically and in line with Liberian law and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) in accordance with Liberian legislation and IFC Performance Standard 5.
• Manage land acquisition, asset verification, compensation, relocation, replacement housing and livelihood restoration programmes.
• Oversee household surveys, census activities, asset inventories, GIS records and compensation tracking systems.
• Coordinate construction and hand‑over of replacement housing and related infrastructure.
• Lead stakeholder engagement, grievance handling and risk mitigation for resettlement activities.
• Supervise RAP consultants, contractors and specialist service providers to ensure scope, schedule and budget compliance.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Community Development or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in resettlement, land access or social performance, preferably in West Africa’s mining sector.
• Demonstrated senior‑level experience managing Resettlement Action Plans in Africa.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience using GIS tools for asset mapping and spatial analysis.
