SAG Mill Supervisor – Ore Processing

About the role

The role involves leading the day‑to‑day operation of a SAG mill within an ore processing plant, ensuring optimal performance, safety and coordination with supporting units.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day SAG mill operations during the assigned shift, monitoring throughput, feed rate, power draw and grind size.
• Coordinate activities with crushing, maintenance, dewatering, concentrator and technical services teams to ensure stable auxiliary systems.
• Manage process upsets, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous optimization of mill performance.
• Lead planned maintenance shutdowns, verify work quality, and support root‑cause investigations.
• Coach and mentor operators, conduct shift handovers, and manage performance and training.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgical, Mechanical, Mining or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years experience in mineral processing operations and at least 2 years in a supervisory role within a concentrator or processing plant.
• Proven experience with SAG milling, crushing, grinding and classification circuits.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of SAG mill operation and optimization.
• Familiarity with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and SCADA platforms.
• Ability to monitor equipment condition and interpret process trends.
• Experience with production reporting and maintenance planning systems.
