Excel Specialist – Remote Data Operations

About the role

We are looking for an Excel Specialist to lead our data operations on a remote, contract basis. The successful candidate will transform raw data from finance, marketing and operational systems across Africa into actionable business intelligence using advanced Excel capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain complex, scalable Excel workbooks, pivot tables and interactive dashboards.
• Write and maintain VBA scripts and macros to automate data entry, extraction and report generation.
• Clean, validate and merge large datasets from CRMs, ERPs and cloud databases using Power Query and advanced lookup formulas.
• Develop dynamic forecasting, budgeting and performance‑tracking models for senior management.
• Audit existing Excel files, troubleshoot formula errors and ensure 100% data integrity.
• Translate technical insights into clear visual formats and train remote cross‑functional teams across Africa on using the tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in data analysis, spreadsheet management or financial modelling.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage deadlines across African time zones.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, Power Query).
• VBA macro development and custom scripting.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI.
• Basic knowledge of SQL databases.
