Finance Manager – STRIDES Project

About the role

The Finance Manager will lead the financial operations of the Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems (STRIDES) project in Liberia. Reporting to the Finance Lead, this position ensures accurate budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting while supporting compliance with USG and Liberian regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee data collection, ensure accuracy, and interpret complex analyses for decision‑making.
• Prepare and submit monthly financial reports comparing budgets to actuals and forecasts; present findings to leadership.
• Finalize financial reports and supporting documentation for funders in line with funding agreements.
• Develop and maintain a commitment tracker for invoices and ensure timely retirement of commitments.
• Review program advances (travel and non‑travel) twice monthly, follow up with staff, and ensure advances are retired within 30 days.
• Monitor all budgeted project expenditures against the work plan and forecast.
• Validate daily financial system entries for correct charge codes and descriptions; correct errors before month‑end close.
• Maintain up‑to‑date financial records for the project.
• Collaborate with the Finance Lead to allocate resources, align budgets with the work plan, and re‑forecast as needed.
• Participate in annual work‑plan budgeting, audit reviews, and assessments.

Required profile

• Proven experience in finance management within nonprofit or development projects.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Knowledge of US Government (USG) rules, regulations, and Liberian financial laws.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Initiative, sound judgment, and capacity to manage a wide range of finance issues.
