Space Applications Expert, Earth Observation & Copernicus

About the role

We are seeking a highly qualified Space Applications Expert to support the “Support to the Africa‑EU Space Partnership Programme – AESPP Boost”. The expert will lead the development, deployment and uptake of Earth Observation services and applications, leveraging Copernicus data to address development, climate and environmental priorities across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver Earth Observation services and applications using Copernicus data and products.
• Support the implementation of EO solutions in sectors such as early warning, climate monitoring, agriculture, water management and biodiversity.
• Facilitate knowledge exchange and capacity building with African institutions and stakeholders.
• Contribute to policy dialogue, innovation initiatives and private‑sector engagement within the Africa‑EU space partnership.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (or higher) in geomatics, remote sensing, environmental science, meteorology, engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in Earth Observation, geospatial services, remote sensing or climate/environmental services.
• At least 4 years of experience designing or delivering EO services with Copernicus data.
• Excellent command of English; working knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is an asset.
• Experience working with African institutions or on African user uptake is a plus.
