Protection Associate – Casework (G5)

About the role

The Protection Associate – Casework supports vulnerable migrants in Liberia by conducting screening interviews, managing cases, and coordinating referrals to medical, psychosocial, legal, and reintegration services. The role works under the Chief of Mission and collaborates with headquarters and regional offices.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct screening interviews to identify migrants needing assistance and refer eligible beneficiaries, including unaccompanied children and trafficking victims, to appropriate services.
• Provide information on available services, distribute informational materials, and deliver individual and group orientation sessions.
• Maintain case files, compile reports, and prepare statistical data while adhering to IOM data protection standards.
• Support administrative and financial processes for direct assistance and assist in outreach activities, including urgent cases outside office hours.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Political Science, Law or related field with at least two years relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree with four years experience.
• Experience in protection case management for survivors of GBV, human trafficking, or children at risk in humanitarian or migration contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to work with vulnerable persons, coordinate referrals, and adapt to challenging conditions.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IOM case management guidelines and inter‑agency protection standards.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel) and familiarity with the MiMOSA platform.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for case notes and reporting.
