Heavy Mobile Equipment Workshop Lead

About the role

The Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) Workshop Lead is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair and operational readiness of heavy mobile equipment used within the port facilities of ArcelorMittal Liberia. The role combines workshop management, team leadership and continuous‑improvement initiatives to ensure high equipment reliability and minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage daily workshop operations, including scheduling, resource allocation and workflow management.
• Ensure the workshop is equipped with the necessary tools, parts and facilities for servicing cranes, loaders, trucks and other port machinery.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of HME technicians and mechanics, fostering a collaborative and safe work environment.
• Oversee preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance programmes to maximise equipment uptime.
• Provide technical expertise for complex equipment issues, troubleshooting and repairs.
• Guarantee compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards and company policies; conduct regular safety audits.
• Drive continuous‑improvement projects to enhance workshop efficiency and equipment performance.
• Prepare and manage the workshop budget, forecast costs and optimise resource utilisation.

Required profile

• Proven ability to supervise workshop operations and manage resources effectively.
• Experience leading a team of technicians or mechanics in a heavy‑equipment environment.
• Strong focus on safety compliance and risk‑assessment practices.
• Capability to manage budgets and control workshop expenses.
