Port Bulk Handling Terminal Manager

About the role

The Port Bulk Handling Terminal Manager leads daily operations of the bulk terminal, ensuring seamless integration between rail logistics and maritime dispatch. This senior position is responsible for high‑capacity loading/unloading systems, a technical workforce, and strict compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute integrated scheduling between rail and port to maximise direct‑to‑ship loading.
• Use data analytics to identify and resolve throughput bottlenecks in conveyor and silo chains.
• Forecast terminal capacity needs based on seasonal commodity flows and rail delivery schedules.
• Oversee asset lifecycle for ship‑loaders, grab cranes, and reclaimers, aiming to maximise MTBF.
• Evaluate and propose automation solutions such as moisture‑sensing, dust suppression, and automated stacking.
• Manage berth occupancy and loading rates to avoid vessel and rail demurrage.
• Control departmental P&L, reducing cost per ton through labour optimisation and energy management.
• Supervise third‑party stevedoring and maintenance contracts, ensuring SLA compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Maritime Studies, Engineering, or Business Management.
• 8+ years of port operations experience, including at least 3 years in a senior bulk‑handling leadership role.
• Deep knowledge of bulk commodity properties (density, moisture, abrasiveness) and their impact on equipment wear.
