Global Health Security Technical Advisor I – Zoonoses & AMR

About the role

The Global Health Security Technical Advisor I – Zoonoses & AMR will provide technical leadership and strategic guidance to strengthen zoonotic and antimicrobial‑resistance surveillance in Liberia. Working within the STRIDES project, the advisor will collaborate with ministries responsible for health and livestock to improve cross‑sectoral coordination, data sharing, laboratory capacity and policy development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on design, implementation, assessment and improvement of human and animal disease laboratories.
• Develop, review and update surveillance plans, diagnostic SOPs and related guidelines.
• Train and support laboratory personnel to detect priority zoonotic diseases and AMR.
• Assist in integrating animal health data into national surveillance platforms and cross‑sectoral information systems.
• Support sample‑management and transportation networks for both human and animal health sectors.
• Contribute to project design, budgeting, recruitment and administrative tasks such as manual updates and budget tracking.

Required profile

• Strong background in human and animal health, zoonotic disease and AMR surveillance.
• Experience working with government partners and multi‑sectoral teams.
• Ability to develop technical documents, SOPs and training materials.
• Proven capacity to support laboratory capacity building and data integration initiatives.
