2nd Engineer – General Cargo Vessel (4‑month contract)

About the role

Our client is looking for a qualified 2nd Engineer to join a General Cargo vessel operating under the Portuguese flag. The assignment is a full‑time, fixed‑term contract lasting approximately four months, with a start date of 15 July 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Engineer in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the main engine and auxiliary machinery.
• Monitor engine performance, fuel consumption, and emissions to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Participate in daily watch‑keeping duties and respond to any mechanical emergencies.
• Maintain accurate technical logs and documentation.

Required profile

• Valid STCW certificates and a current medical certificate.
• Good command of English; Marlins test proficiency is an advantage.
• Previous experience as a 2nd Engineer or equivalent rank on a similar general cargo vessel.
• Valid Schengen visa.

Required skills

• Operation and troubleshooting of MAN B&W 6S42MC main engine.
