Deputy Chief Data Officer

About the role

Social Discovery Group is seeking a Deputy Chief Data Officer to drive cross‑functional strategic initiatives across machine learning, experimentation and data platform domains. The role will partner with product, engineering and analytics teams to deliver measurable business impact at a global scale.

Key responsibilities

• Own execution of strategic initiatives spanning ML, experimentation and data platforms.
• Lead 2–3 high‑priority projects in the first three months, defining scope, aligning stakeholders and delivering measurable outcomes.
• Ensure predictable delivery through clear planning, coordination and risk escalation.
• Unblock stalled projects by clarifying ownership, resolving dependencies and driving completion.
• Build and operate an execution framework including monthly business reviews, quarterly planning and retrospectives.
• Maintain a single source of truth for project status, risks and commitments.
• Improve the experimentation ecosystem to increase decision‑making speed and reduce manual work.
• Accelerate ML delivery cycles from idea to production, coordinating across ML, backend, analytics and product teams.
• Guarantee that ML initiatives generate measurable business impact.
• Strengthen functional leads (Product Analytics, Data Engineering, ML, UX) through prioritisation, execution discipline and coaching.
• Drive ownership, accountability and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Own operational excellence of the function, including data freshness, uptime, SLA adherence and delivery predictability.

Required profile

• 6–10+ years of experience in data, analytics or machine‑learning domains.
• 3–5+ years in a leadership role overseeing data‑focused teams.
• Proven track record of delivering data‑driven projects with measurable business outcomes.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to align diverse teams.
