Chef/Kitchen Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Chef/Kitchen Assistant to join our busy Chinese takeaway kitchen. The role involves supporting the chef in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes while maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety. You will assist in daily kitchen operations, ensuring timely service for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping and slicing meats and vegetables.
• Cook menu items by frying, stir‑frying or boiling according to established recipes.
• Assist in plating, portioning and presenting dishes.
• Maintain a clean and safe workstation, adhering to food‑hygiene regulations.
• Monitor stock levels, receive deliveries and store supplies correctly.
• Maintain inventory records and perform regular stock checks.
• Wash and sanitize pots, pans, utensils and other kitchen equipment after use.

Required profile

• Basic knowledge of Chinese cooking methods.
• Ability to work quickly in a hot, high‑pressure environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
• Reliability and punctuality.
