Driver – Resident Transportation

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Driver to transport residents safely to medical appointments, outings, and other scheduled activities. The role combines vehicle operation with hands‑on resident assistance, ensuring comfort and dignity throughout each journey.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload residents from facility‑approved vehicles, securing them safely for transport.
• Drive residents to scheduled appointments, outings, and activities, adhering to routes and timelines.
• Maintain vehicle interior and exterior cleanliness and conduct routine checks such as oil changes and tire rotations.
• Monitor and record vehicle maintenance logs, scheduling service as needed.
• Perform clinical transfer techniques, including ingress/egress of mobile patients, wheelchair transfers, and securing residents in van bays.
• Lift and mobilize patients up to 70 lb independently within confined vehicle spaces.
• Make complex decisions regarding highly dependent patients during transport.
• Complete any additional duties assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; minimum age 25.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no DUI, reckless driving, or major violations in the past 7 years).
• Familiarity with GPS navigation and local roadways.
• Ability to read, write, and follow job‑related instructions and manuals.
• Basic mathematical skills for calculating distances, fuel usage, etc.
• Problem‑solving ability and sound judgment in patient‑care situations.
• Pass a drug screen and background check.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• GPS navigation competency.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training and current certification.
