Finance Officer (Expedited Recruitment)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Finance Officer for its Country Office in Liberia. Working under the Chief of Mission and the Resources Management Officer, the incumbent will support budgetary and financial functions, ensure compliance with IOM and donor regulations, and contribute to effective financial management of programmes and projects.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Resources Management Officer in monitoring financial management, budgeting, and expenditure accountability for all country office activities.
• Prepare and review monthly accounting closures, annual budgets, and programme/project financial reports, ensuring accurate data entry into the ERP system.
• Provide technical assistance to programme managers, supervise the Finance Unit staff, and coordinate with headquarters and regional offices on financial matters.
• Assist in cash‑flow forecasting, payroll allocation, internal control assessments, and audit facilitation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field with at least two years of relevant experience, or a university degree with four years of experience.
• Professional certification (CA, CPA, CIMA, ACCA) is an advantage.
• Fluency in English (oral and written); knowledge of another UN official language is a plus.
• Experience in international financial management, donor reporting, and internal/external audit processes.

Required skills

• Knowledge of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
• Proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for financial data entry.
• Strong computer literacy, especially MS Office applications.
