Registered Nurse (RN) – Supervisory Role

About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) will supervise the day‑to‑day nursing activities of a long‑term care facility, ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations. This position works closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) and Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to maintain the highest quality of resident care.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing daily nursing operations in accordance with current rules and guidelines.
• Develop, maintain, and update written policies, procedures, and the Nursing Service Procedures Manual.
• Ensure reference materials (e.g., PDRs, regulations, professional standards) at nurses’ stations are current.
• Provide written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director regarding nursing department operations.
• Review and recommend revisions to departmental policies, procedure manuals, and job descriptions.
• Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in the facility’s quality assurance program and government inspections.
• Assist with resident discharge planning, including updating written discharge plans.
• Lead staff meetings to plan departmental services, programs, and activities.

Required profile

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Experience in long‑term care or similar healthcare setting.
• Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local nursing regulations.
• Strong supervisory and communication abilities.
• Capability to develop and revise policies and procedures.
• Experience with quality assurance and regulatory survey processes.
