Finance Officer (Expedited Recruitment)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Finance Officer to support financial management for its Liberia Country Office. This expedited recruitment is open to internal and equivalent candidates and involves close collaboration with the Resources Management Officer, regional and headquarters teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Resources Management Officer in monitoring financial expenditures, ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements.
• Conduct preliminary financial analysis of programmes, monitor budget controls, and implement internal controls.
• Enter accounting data into the ERP system, maintain accurate financial records, and assist with monthly close processes.
• Prepare annual and project budgets, verify payroll allocations, and coordinate financial reporting for programmes and donors.
• Liaise with headquarters, regional offices, and administrative centres on accounting and financial matters.
• Supervise Finance Unit staff and contribute to capacity‑building activities.
• Forecast cash flows, control daily fund disbursements, and support audit processes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field with at least two years of relevant experience, or a university degree with four years of experience.
• Professional certification (CA, CPA, CIMA, ACCA) is an advantage.
• Experience in accounting, financial management, reporting, and internal/external audit, preferably with international institutions.
• Fluency in English (oral and written); knowledge of another UN language is a plus.

Required skills

• Knowledge of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
• Familiarity with IOM/UN accounting systems and ERP software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to prepare clear financial and management reports.
