Accounts Assistant

About the role

Eco-Energy is looking for an Accounts Assistant to support its finance operations. The role ensures the accuracy, integrity and timely processing of daily financial transactions, maintains strong financial controls, meets donor requirements and provides reliable data for management decisions. It tracks PAYG solar revenues, agent collections and project funds across mobile money (MTN, Orange, Lonestar/LC), cash and bank channels, and supports audit readiness and risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Compile and maintain accurate daily records of cash, bank and mobile money inflows and outflows from customers, sales agents and partners.
• Carry out daily and weekly mobile money reconciliations, matching system data, agent reports and platform statements, and escalate variances or suspicious activity.
• Perform regular bank and cash reconciliations to align accounting records, bank statements and physical cash counts.
• Track and allocate PAYG solar payments, customer top-ups, subsidies and grants by product, project, county and funding source (donor vs. commercial).
• Prepare monthly financial summaries covering revenue, expenses, receivables and agent collections for management reporting.
• Maintain an audit-ready repository of receipts, vouchers, mobile money confirmations and agent reports.
• Assist the Finance Manager in spotting fraud risks, pricing inconsistencies and compliance gaps, and help enforce Eco-Energy's financial and mobile money policies.
