Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate migrant-facing field assistance across pre-departure, departure and post-arrival phases, including accommodation, third-party facilities, camps or sub-offices and transportation.
  • Organise pre-departure arrangements: document collection and verification, travel documents, exit permits, baggage, travel briefings and information on luggage and prohibited items.
  • Support migrants during departure and airport procedures (check-in, immigration, customs, security screening, boarding) and coordinate with airlines and airports.
  • Arrange transport between facilities, consolidation points and airports, including identity checks and readiness assessments, while respecting privacy and informed consent.
  • Assist migrants with specific needs, facilitate escorts where needed and report protection, welfare or operational concerns to the supervisor.
  • Maintain beneficiary files and enter, verify and update beneficiary and movement data in IOM-approved systems such as MiMOSA, following data protection standards.
  • Apply IOM SOPs, protection mainstreaming principles and PSEAH requirements, and report non-compliance by IOM personnel, partners or service providers.
  • Coordinate with units and beneficiaries on pre-departure formalities, travel loans, luggage, prohibited items, bag tags and clothing, and run hygiene discussions and update informational posters.
  • Carry out field visits and duty travel to airports, accommodation facilities, transit or consolidation points and partner sites, and perform other assigned duties.

Required profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Research, Law or a related field with three years of relevant experience; or high school diploma with five years of experience.
  • Experience in migration management, refugee resettlement, humanitarian assistance, logistics, transportation or field operations.
  • Experience in protection case management (including survivors of GBV and human trafficking, children at risk) in humanitarian or migration contexts.
  • Direct work with migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, deported migrants or vulnerable populations is desirable; experience with movement operations and with IOM or UN agencies on assisted voluntary return is preferred.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written); a working knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.

Required skills

  • Knowledge of IOM and inter-agency protection standards and operational guidelines, including IOM Case Management Guidelines.
  • Knowledge of MiMOSA is a strong asset; knowledge of human rights and international migration law is an asset.
  • Case notes and reports, and MS Office (Word, Excel).
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills, and ability to work in challenging conditions.
